Country Crossroads Counseling
A little bit about Jessica Janis, LPC . . .
Helping with children, teenagers, and young adults
Hi, I'm Jessica Janis. Thanks for taking the time to learn a little bit about me. By researching a counselor, you can get a better idea if the counselor might be a good choice for the issues you are facing.
I graduated from the University of Central Missouri in 2011, earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. While working on my bachelors degree, I led research on counselor effectiveness. I completed my masters degree in Counselor Education from the University of Central Missouri in 2016. I have had the opportunity to facilitate individual sessions, play therapy sessions, sand tray therapy sessions, and facilitate group sessions.
I am passionate about counseling and advocating to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health care. I worked at UCM's Violence and Substance Abuse Prevention office before transitioning into school counseling. Once in schools, I began to strongly identify as a solution focused counselor.
Passionate about helping with children, tenenagers, and young adults, I also utilize Animal Assisted Therapy with Toby, a trained therapy dog. I work with local agencies, like the Cass County Health Department, to bring mental health resources to more rural communities, and to help reduce the suicide rate, while connecting more people to needed services.
Aside from a counselor, I am also a mother and wife. In my spare time I work on restoring my Victorian home, baking, gardening, hiking and spending time with friends and family. I would love to help you with any struggles you or a loved one may be facing.
